Executive Statement on Science Behind AMBIZ Assessment

We develop our assessment fundamentally to promote meritocracy in every enterprise that we serve. Our tech-based and research-rich assessment has been utilized by enterprises ranging from start-ups to multinationals since 2018. We strongly believe that any assessment tools need to be proven by science and reflected through actual working performance. The Importance of Science

Science is an important thing in measuring instrument's construction. When an instrument has accurate evidence based on science, this indicates that the instrument is really capable of measuring what we want to measure.

As a Result, the candidate with certain criteria required by a company can actually be found through the measuring instrument. In addition, with scientifically accurate evidence, the results obtained can be used as a tool to predict a candidate's future performance.

What is Validity?

Validity refers to the degree to which evidence and theory support the interpretations of test scores for proposed uses of tests.
(American Educational Research Association, 2014)

Evidence for Validity

There are several types of evidence that can prove validity. Some of those are content, internal structure, and correlation with another instrument.

Evidence Based on Internal Structure

This type of evidence can be depicted by confirmatory factor analysis. Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) will generate scores that indicate the validity of the instrument. When the score matches to at least one of the requirements of CFA, it means the instrument depicts the factor that is measured.

Evidence Based on Instrument Content

This type of evidence can be depicted by item-total correlation score. When the score has higher item-total correlation scores, it means the instrument represents the measured factor. This type of evidence can also be depicted by expert judgment. Experts are asked for their opinion on the construction of the instrument based on their expertise. According to Cristobal et al. (2007), the subscales with corrected item-total correlation lower than 0.30 are not acceptable.

Evidence Based on Instrument Correlation with Another Instrument

This type of evidence can be proven if an instrument statistically correlates with another instrument. The correlation between the two factors, the better the instrument reflects what is measured. This type of evidence can also be proven if an instrument can predict future performance/behavior. It is obtained by comparing one’s instrument score with certain behaviors/performance in months or years.

What is Reliability?

Reliability refers to the consistency of scores across replications of a testing procedure, regardless of how this con­sistency is estimated or reported (e.g., in terms of standard errors, reliability coefficients per se, generalizability coefficients, error/tolerance ratios, item response theory (IRT) information functions, or various indices of classification consistency).

Evidence for Reliability

One of the most common types of reliability is internal consistency. Internal consistency can be depicted by Cronbach Alpha coefficient. When the score has higher score of Cronbach Alpha coefficient, it means the instrument can be used and depict consistent result of a person.
